What experiences have left deep scars or broken cracks in your life? Think about your scars. What do they look and feel like? If you are visualizing a physical scar, it might be discolored, rough, ridged and sensitive to touch. What about emotional scars? What beliefs have been imprinted into your mind?
Do you realize that ALL those scars have a story to tell? They are intertwined in your own unique story. I’ve come to realize over the course of my lifetime that my scars and the battles fought were, and continue to be, opportunities for God’s light to shine. Those scars shape and play a major part in life.
Most of the time we want to cover the scars, hide them. And those broken cracks in our life, we fill with whatever we can to kill the pain at the time. Maybe those cracks have been filled with gambling, porn, drugs, alcohol, eating, shopping, sex, etc. And although it does its job and numbs the pain, at that moment, the pain returns and possibly leads to added devastation.
My pastor recently referenced 2 Corinthians 4: 7-9 in his sermon titled, “Beautifully Broken.”
7But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us, 8We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; 9persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed.
Every living person is going to experience a life that results in scars and broken cracks. What are you running from or hiding? How are you filling those broken cracks? Think about your scars and broken cracks of life through the lens of “Beautifully Broken.” What do you notice? What I notice is that I am grateful for my scars and broken cracks of life. However, I have to say, during those seasons that created the scars, gratitude was not what I expressed. They have made me the person I am today.
A few years ago, I began to open up and share what I had suppressed for so long. Today I use my weaknesses to support women who have experienced major life changes, in order to experience a renewed strength. None of it would have been possible without my trusting in God’s strength to carry me through. Don’t wait another day to let your heart rise and live ReSet and ReAligned. Let me support you in shifting the scars and broken cracks of life.
